Faculty Guidelines

Referrals made to the Writing Center should be accompanied with specific instructions for areas of the writing process to target with a student, as well as an assignment prompt.

Invite a representative of the Writing Center to class to discuss a specific aspect of an assignment, such as research strategies, content development and appropriate documentation of sources, or to discuss Writing Center services in general.

Encourage students to collaborate with Writing Center mentors early on in their research or writing assignments.

Utilize the Writing Center as an integral component of the student experience in your course.

Work with Writing Center Mentors in helping your students to address error patterns in their writing, whether at the word, sentence, paragraph, or essay level.

Collaborate with Writing Center Mentors on developing effective strategies for building student competency in the appropriate use of source material.
